Storm Arwen – tips for awnings in storms/snow. Buy a smaller winter/weekend awning. Insurance quotes.

WOW! What a final weekend to end November! Storm Arwen arrived and brought with it high winds, rain, snow and hail; every caravaners worst nightmare. Here is our advice when it comes to storms and awnings.

1-      Take it down – although this is not always possible especially for seasonal caravaners who leave their awning up. This is the safest option for both your awning and caravan.

2-      Make sure to insure your awning and caravan for storm damage.

3-      Make sure your awning is erected correctly with the poles tensioned and correct pegs used for the awning. As well as adding storm straps where possible. We advise you get a professional erection where possible.

4-      Add additional framework to the awning to better brace the canvas.

5-      Position caravan (where possible) to shelter the awning from the prevailing winds.

Latest news

It is with great sadness that we can announce that the Manchester show has been cancelled. The January show is our most local show and can provide our customers with a great chance to see the new year’s awnings and pick up a bargain ready for the season ahead. We hope to see this show return in 2023. However, keep your eyes peeled as we may create our very own show here at our showroom.

Awning of the month

November’s awning of the month is the Vango Balletto 400 and this is also our best-selling awning throughout the year. New for 2021 this awning has impressed both new and experienced caravanners with many making the change to this quick, lightweight single inflation porch. Vango have introduced many new attractive features for the Balletto such as the new Draught Seal System (DSS). This new system takes away the need for a rear leg, meaning no more metal poles against your caravan. Heading into the 2022 season this awning will be available in the new sizes of 200, 330 and 390. As well as the introduction of a new Vango Fabric for those looking for this awning in a heavier duty fabric.
